The most popular Thermochron iButton is the DS1921G. Its wide operating temperature range makes it suitable for environmental scientists in all but the coldest of environments. The DS1921G is also capable of monitoring standard refrigeration and freezers. The DS1921G Thermochron iButton with its 2048 readings capacity is deployable for extend periods between downloads. Configure the DS1921G at the beginning of each deployment with the desired logging rate (1 to 255 minutes), when to start logging, and the high/low temperature alarms. The DS1921G accurate to ±0.5°C (0.9°F). A NIST Traceable certificate for the temperature can be generated here.
Who is using the DS1921G?
SUNY ESF – A Sensor Array Network for Continuous Soil Microclimatic Monitoring & Snow Depth Modeling in Forest Environments. Colin Beier & James Mills monitored snow depth in remote locations of the Adirondack.
UC Davis – Investigating Barn Owl nest box size and use of shade panels to mitigate extreme temperatures. Emily Philips, Breanna Martinico & Ryan Bourbour used the DS1921G and DS1923 to compare two common barn owl nest boxes. They determined there was no statistical difference between ambiant temperature and the larger barn owl nesting boxes.
The DS1921G Thermochron iButton’s benefits (along with DS1921H and DS1921Z) compared to the other Thermochron models are the more economical price point, the histogram, and a longer battery life.
The DS1922L and DS1925L share the same temperature range as the DS1921G. However, they can store a larger number of readings and are more accurate (±0.5°C).
